Background Stuff

When I saw Muse live at the Reading festival in August, little did I know what it would cause to happen. Something clicked in my head, that night. I was REALLY tired, my feet hurt, I was bored as I'd been on my own all day in a field of strangers, I was cold and wet and worst of all, totally sober as I was driving. I really just wanted to go home. But I had to see Muse first. It had been a couple of months since I first got their albums. I was waiting for the live experience. I was stood some way back, I just didnt have the energy to fight with a crowd. I could barely stand up. I was expecting quite a lot from them. Some of their songs are such huge, epic masterpieces, I thought they would need to put on one hell of a show to do them justice.

So, they came onstage and from the opening notes of 'Knights Of Cydonia' I knew this show was going to be something special. Then they went and played 'Hysteria' and 'Supermassive black hole' two of my favourite songs, one after the other. I was just stood there totally amazed. I heard the guy next to me turn to his mate and say 'they are just amazing' echoing my own thoughts. Just when I thought it couldnt get any better, they played 'Bliss'. I nearlly cried during that. Also, I was so into it, it was like the rest of the crowd just faded away and it was just me there watching them. I've experienced that before but its always been when I've been at the front of the crowd. Never from that far back in such a big crowd. After they finished I just stood there for a couple of minutes, unable to move. Then I got myself together and almost skipped down the road to the car with a big grin on my face, which lasted for days. They did everything I expected of them, and more. I didnt bother going back to the festival on the Sunday as I felt I had already seen the best band and noone else could possibly even come close.

Since then, I've sold most of the concert tickets I had for the rest of the year. I'm not really interested in seeing anyone else live. I already had a ticket to see Muse in Sheffield in November. After Reading, I decided I'd go to Manchester too. A couple of weeks later I decided it would be fun to go to every city on the UK tour.

So, I now have tickets for Belfast, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Manchester (11th), Cardiff, Birmingham (14th), Nottingham, Sheffield, Newcastle and 2 nights at Wembley (21st and 23rd)

I've set this Blog up as a place I can document the whole thing, along with (hopefully) some pictures.

The madness begins 5 weeks tomorrow in Belfast!

Bring it on!!
